Chances of Riding high look promising for local clubs
Clubs in this area feature heavily once again in the West Riding County Cup.
That should be an interesting tie as Eagles boss Lee Duxbury, the former Bantams and Huddersfield midfielder, ended his long playing career with Farsley Celtic in the Conference Premier.
The strength of local sides is a testament to the wealth of talent in the area.
Only two of the nine local clubs failed to reach the second round of what is the county FA’s most prestigious knockout competition for non-league clubs.
The final has been monopolised by local clubs in recent times and the odds of it happening again will be quite short.
The last three finals have all involved Guiseley and have all been at Valley Parade.
In the 2010-11 season the Lions beat Thackley, the following year they beat Bradford Park Avenue after extra time and last term they lost to FC Halifax Town.
Guiseley host Ossett Town in the second round, while holders Halifax visit Harrogate Railway.
Second round (to be played the week commencing November 4): Guiseley v Ossett Town, Liversedge v Selby Town, Bradford Park Avenue v Harrogate Town, Brighouse Town v Wakefield, Harrogate Railway Athletic v FC Halifax Town, Knaresborough Town v Ossett Albion, Eccleshill United v Farsley, Barnoldswick Town v Albion Sports.
