Silsden
Silsden finish on a high
Silsden 2, Bacup Borough 0
Silsden's last game of an arduous Vodkat League campaign saw them win and keep a clean sheet but there was a definite end-of-season atmosphere about the occasion.
The home side took the lead early following a good move down the left flank. Danny NcNulty started it, Thomas Dibb sent a diagonal ball into the area and Graham Holmes ran across his marker before side-footing home.
Boro were awarded a penalty in the 18th minute but Silsden keeper Martin Foulger parried the effort, gathered the loose ball and cleared.
Dibb provided the assist for Silsden's second, Lee Reilly bursting between the centre backs and slotting in from just inside the area.
Cobbydalers manager Paul Schofield reflected: "The second half was disappointing. We didn't create much but we did force a lot of corners. It has been a long season and August 14 seems a long time ago."
