Woe on road for Silsden
Runcorn Linnets 1, Silsden 0
Silsden's season continues to tail off badly after another disappointing Vodkat League defeat on the road.
It was a young and inexperienced Silsden side, with two 17-year-olds making their debuts. Club captain Martin Bland, Michael Rhodes, James Nettleton and keeper Martin Foulger - all of whom have skippered the side this season - were all missing.
The Linnets scored the game's only goal when a 16th-minute shot was mishit but slid home at the far post by Vinnie Braine.
Silsden almost levelled just before the break when Lee Reilly got on the end of a Tim Hird pass that split the home centre backs but he shot wide. In the second half, Andy King sent in a 25-yard drive but that flew inches wide.
Cobbydalers boss Paul Schofield said: "It was not our day again. It's a tough end to the season that looked on track eight games ago - but there were plus points. Arley Barnes started the game and James Dunn played half of it and both did very well."
