Thackley players hoping to impress boss
2:50pm Thursday 26th April 2012 in Silsden By Ian Whiting
There is plenty for Bruce Tiani, pictured, and his Thackley colleagues to play for in the remainder of the season
The Baris Northern Counties East League should also be reaching its conclusion on Saturday but torrential rain across the region over the last week has put paid to that.
However, while promotion and relegation issues remain unsettled, most of the clubs in this area have little to play for.
Thackley’s trip to Parkgate is significant though because the Dennyboys have reached the League Cup final, which will be played at the Rotherham club’s ground so Vince Brockie’s men will be getting a feel of the venue.
The players will also be looking to impress boss Brockie in the hope of getting a shirt for the final against Division One outfit Shirebrook Town on Bank Holiday Monday (May 7, 3pm kick-off).
Brighouse Town are assured of finishing highest of the trio of local clubs in the division and they are also on the road this weekend when they play their final game of the campaign at Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
In the lower tier, Eccleshill United travel to Askern Villa safe in the knowledge that they have secured a top-eight finish and the qualification to next season’s FA Cup and FA Vase that comes with it.
Any local floaters who do not wish to watch Park Avenue at home in their Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off semi-final could be drawn to Keighley Road, where Silsden will be at home to St Helens Town in the North West Counties League Premier Division.
