SILSDEN remain four points clear at the summit of Division One in the Hallmark Security League after a 2-0 home victory over promotion-chasing Stockport Town.
It was a competitive game against a Lions side hoping to break into the play-off places and it wasn’t until the visitors went down to 10 men that the Cobbydalers seized the initiative.
After Stockport midfielder Conor Downes was shown a straight red card, having raised his hands to Chris Wademan in the 70th minute, Aiden Kirby netted an excellent low drive.
Substitute Mateusz Tomas then lashed in from the edge of the area, with both goals coming inside the final eight minutes.
It was an important win for Danny Forrest's side as nearest challengers Litherland REMYCA (2-0 over Cheadle Town) and Whitchurch Alport (5-1 over Nelson) both won.
