SILSDEN have snapped up former Bantams player Craig Bentham from Thackley.

Cobbydalers boss Danny Forrest is delighted to have the experienced midfielder on board, having revealed he had been chasing the 32-year-old's signature for a while.

He said: "I've known Craig a long time and he's someone who I've tried to get to the club in the past, so I'm delighted to finally get his signature.

"Craig is someone I know well and someone who I trust. He will bring a lot of quality as well as experience and professionalism."

Bentham played for Bradford City between the ages of 16 and 22, and has plenty of experience in both defence and midfield. He left City to play for Farsley Celtic before a brief spell with Guiseley.

Bentham then moved to Australia where he joined Balcatta SC before returning to England to complete three years at Thackley.

The Cobbydalers have had an excellent start to the season by winning 11 out of 11 games in the North West Counties League Division One.

And Forrest believes Bentham will only strengthen their bid for promotion back to the top flight.

Forrest said: "Bringing someone new into the group was something I had to think about and make sure we got right. We have a tight knit bunch and I have absolutely no doubts Craig will settle in.

"He'll complement what we already have, he's got a great attitude and even after all the years he's been in the game he still has a raw hunger and desire which ticks a massive box for us."
