AFTER three wins in seven days, Silsden boss Danny Forrest is ready for his side to face a different challenge against Clitheroe this weekend.

Saturday's 4-2 win over Albion Sports followed victories against Campion and Thackley, giving the Cobbydalers some momentum to take into their clash with a side who play in Division One North of the Evo-Stik League.

"The results are all pleasing, as they're against teams similar to those we'll face this season, but Clitheroe will be a different test," said Forrest.

"They'll probably have the lion's share of the ball and it's how we deal with that. We'll be looking at our shape and how we can stop them.

"I want the lads to be bright and effective when we have the ball but it's a different type of game and a different type of challenge.

"I'm looking forward to it and to seeing how the lads will react to it as well."

Silsden went in at the break 3-1 up against Albion last Saturday, with Kyle Hancock opening the scoring before further goals from Mateus Tomas and Arley Barnes.

Trialist Redmond Lee and Chris Fairhurst were on target for Albion, who had former Silsden boss James Gill among their ranks. Gill, who captained the visitors, is currently weighing up whether to commit to the Northern Counties East League side this season.

A second goal from Hancock ensured another win for Forrest's side, whose defeat in their pre-season opener is quickly becoming a distant memory.

"After the first game against Yorkshire Amateurs, I criticised the lads for not being creative enough in the final third. Our momentum was pretty poor too," recalled Forrest.

"We've worked on that in the last few weeks and credit to the lads for soaking it up and taking it on board. Hopefully now we'll create a winning habit and build on this platform."

Having had a good look at his squad in a hectic week of fixtures, Forrest now has confidence in his team to keep performing this way, with their North West Counties League opener against Sandbach just over two weeks away.

He said: "We've got good options in all areas. I don't see an area we're struggling in. I'm really happy to work with what we've got and get the best out of this group.

"Obviously, if players are available who can improve us, then we've got to look at that option.

"But the lads are buying into everything. Their attitude has been unbelievable and they've got a real hunger and desire about them.

"I just hope we can keep that up and the buzz stays going into the season."
