FARSLEY Celtic are aiming to stay ahead of rivals Lancaster City in the race for the Evo-Stik League Division One North title race when they host mid-table Droylsden tomorrow.

The Celts have just five league games remaining but they are at the summit on goal difference only and have played a game more than Lancaster in the two-horse race for the crown.

While Farsley host the 14th-placed Bloods, who have been unbeaten in ten of their 17 away games, Lancaster welcome fifth-placed Colne.

In the same division, Brighouse Town are looking to make up the five-point gap between them and Colne, who are currently in the last play-off place. Paul Quinn’s side face a quick return game with Kendal Town.

Brighouse travel to the Lakeland outfit just a fortnight after Kendal snatched a 1-1 draw at the Dual Seal Stadium thanks to an 87th-minute equaliser.

In the Toolstation Northern Counties East League, top tier outfit Thackley are still looking to break through the 70-point barrier following a midweek defeat on the road.

The Dennyboys remain fourth in the Premier Division after Tuesday’s loss at Handsworth and are travelling again for another tough fixture as they head to a Staveley MW side with their tails up after a 5-1 win at home on Wednesday.

Liversedge also face a stern test as they host leaders Cleethorpes Town. Sedge endured a blank Saturday last weekend and have dropped from eighth to 12th.

Jonathan Rimmington’s men could climb back into the top half with a win and they will be hoping to catch Cleethorpes out of form. The title favourites, who have booked themselves a Wembley appearance in the FA Vase final, are stuttering and were beaten 3-0 at mid-table Maltby Main in midweek.

Campion were held to a home draw on Wednesday by 12th-placed Selby Town ahead of a tough trip to Pontefract Collieries. Ponte are second and just two points behind leaders AFC Emley with a game in hand.

Selby face another trip to Bradford tomorrow as Eccleshill United are their hosts. The Eagles won in midweek so are just three points behind neighbours Campion.

Silsden could not have a more daunting fixture in the Hallmark Security League lower tier as they travel to leaders Litherland REMYCA.
