Silsden boss Danny Forrest feels his squad is benefitting from an injection of new blood after making four new signings last month.

The recruits all play in different areas of the pitch and it didn’t take them long to settle in and make the Cobbydalers a stronger unit.

Luke Taylor and Charlie Holt were captured from Hallmark Security League counterparts Sandbach and Nelson respectively, while Dan Illingworth and Danny Bunch have joined on loan from Evo-Stik Division One North outfit Brighouse Town.

Forrest said: “I think Luke and Charlie slipped under the radar a little after we got the two lads from Brighouse but all four have done their bit and improved our squad.

“Dan has been good and strengthened us defensively, while Danny can play anywhere across the field behind a lone striker or a front two. The response from the lads we already had here has been first class and they’ve got a fresh spring in their step.”

The Cobbydalers lost their first two games after Forrest’s dip into the transfer market but go into today’s trip to second-placed City of Liverpool on a high after two straight victories.

Forrest added: “The lads soon got used to everything about the club and we got back-to-back wins. I don’t want to jinx anything but we’re playing well and everyone in is in good spirits.

“I think we needed a change because, although we’ve competed well for most of the season, two games in January highlighted it for me. We didn’t do ourselves justice in the month and it was clear that we had to freshen things up.

“We went in front at Cheadle but they hit back with a couple of goals and heads dropped, we lacked leaders on the pitch. Then we played Widnes at home and had a nightmare. To be honest I think we rolled over and had our bellies tickled by them because they just dominated the game.

“But things are looking up now and our club is a nice place to be with lots of smiles on faces.”
