THERE are a couple of big derby fixtures in tonight's three West Riding County Cup quarter-finals – including a rerun of last season's Valley Parade final as Harrogate Town host holders BRADFORD PARK AVENUE.

Avenue defended the trophy at their League One neighbours' ground with a late Richard Marshall penalty in a 3-2 victory.

The Horsfall outfit and Harrogate are National North rivals and the sides will line up again in the league at Wetherby Road on Saturday.

Both clubs go into tonight's cup tie on a high after wins in the league at the weekend, with Mark Bower's men climbing to the brink of safety as they won 1-0 at fellow strugglers Worcester City thanks to Nicky Boshell's dramatic stoppage-time winner.

Tenth-placed Harrogate, managed by Simon Weaver, scored six goals but conceded three in a remarkable home victory over Alfreton Town, which included four by ex-Avenue skipper Simon Ainge.

The other big derby sees FARSLEY CELTIC hosting GUISELEY and both these clubs are also buoyant after victories at the weekend.

Farsley go into the game after a 5-0 win at Radcliffe Borough in Division One North of the Evo-Stik League, their former Guiseley and Avenue striker James Walshaw weighing in with a four-goal haul and Marshall also on target.

Guiseley boosted their chances of beating the drop from the National League with a hard-fought but thoroughly deserved 2-1 home win over relegation rivals Maidstone United.

Tonight's third quarter-final, after BRIGHOUSE TOWN hosted Ossett Town last night in a rearranged tie that completes the last eight, sees SILSDEN making the journey east to take on Tadcaster Albion.

The Brewers won the Toolstation Northern Counties East League last season and have since settled in as league rivals of Farsley and Brighouse.

Silsden suffered relegation last term and have taken time to regroup but they go into tonight's tie having knocked out FC Halifax Town in the last round and on the back of three consecutive wins in Division One of the Hallmark Security League.
