LIVERSEDGE were due to have home advantage in Saturday’s derby against Albion Sports but, following the recent inclement weather, the fixture was switched.

Albion should have won the Toolsation Northern Counties East League top-tier derby at a canter but squandered a host of chances.

Liversedge came from a goal down at half-time to lead with less than seven minutes remaining but the Lions snatched a point with a stoppage-time equaliser.

Lions’ boss Kulwinder Sandhu said: “We should have been out of sight at half-time but we brought problems on ourselves with the missed chances.

"I didn’t think their penalty was one but we should have had one when Karl Hall was pushed as he went for a header.

“It’s one of those tight derby games when you should have won but almost lost. It’s disappointing because we never tested their keeper enough.”

All Albion had to show for their first-half dominance was a single goal after Devonte Morton had slotted in from close range in the 19th minute.

Just five minutes into the second half, home keeper Mark Bower was guilty of a clumsy challenge that Sedge’s Rhys Davies made the most of.

Bower was shown a yellow card before Davies fired home from the spot.

The visitors had a good spell after pulling themselves level but it wasn’t until Steve Wales netted from close range late on that they were in front.

In truth, it would have been a travesty had Sedge taken all three points, and justice was served as Karl Hall volleyed past visiting keeper Christian Thewlis in injury time.

Sedge manager Jonathan Rimmington said: “We were rubbish and it’s been like that for the last four weeks when we have been non-existent in the first half.

“You can’t do that, not against a good side like Albion - and they are a good side.

"We got a point from it so does that mean we’ve done all right? I don’t know, I still think that there’s a lot more to come from our players.”

Thackley romped to a 4-0 away win at struggling Barton Town Old Boys, a victory that kept the Dennyboys at the summit of the Premier Division.

Craig Bentham opened the scoring in the sixth minute, and Dan Broadbent added to that midway through the first half.

Two goals in as many minutes midway through the second wrapped it up. Ryan Farrell netted from the spot following a handball in the area before George Eustance completed the scoring.

There was no good news for Bradford’s two representatives in the lower tier as both Campion and Eccleshill United suffered away defeats.

James Bicknell’s Campion could have climbed back into the play-off places in Division One with a win at Hall Road Rangers but the home side raced to a 2-0 half-time lead.

Campion’s Eli Hey scored in the penultimate minute to ensure a nervy ending but the hosts held on as Jamie Reeson’s early opener and Chris Spinks’ 21st- minute penalty proved to be enough of a cushion.

The Eagles went down 5-0 at promotion hopefuls Hallam.

A brace from Callum Greaves followed Tom Roebuck’s early penalty as the hosts took command in the first half, while Oliver Beaumont and Matty Ord were on target in the second half.

Three fixtures fell foul of the wintry conditions as Brighouse Town’s home game against Kendal Town and Farsley Celtic’s trip to Droylsden – both in Evo-Stik Division One North – and Silsden’s Hallmark Security League Division One game at Ashton Town were shelved due to waterlogged pitches.
