CAMPION'S excellent start to life on the non-league ladder continued when they reclaimed top spot in Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One last night.

James Bicknell’s side got back to winning ways, after being held to back-to- back draws, with a 5-3 victory over Shirebrook Town.

Eli Hey gave Campion a ninth-minute lead but Oliver Grady levelled soon after.

However, the home side, playing under lights at Scotchman Road for only the second time, still took a lead into the break after Steve Hollingworth netted midway through the first half.

Hollingworth added his second nine minutes into the second period to restore Campion’s two-goal advantage but Shirebrook levelled with goals from Ryan Hall and Matt Longley (penalty).

However, the home side had a spot-kick of their own, which Scott Eastwood netted to put Campion back in front, and they put the gloss on the win when John Booth wrapped up the scoring in the last minute.

It was another bad night for Silsden in Hallmark Security League Division One as they dropped into the bottom three following a 2-1 loss at Bacup Borough.

The Cobbydalers were narrowly beaten in a physical Roses battle after the home side opened up a two-goal first-half lead.

Bacup’s Matt Barlow broke the deadlock in the tenth minute with a superb side-footed volley, and they doubled their lead through Andrew Foster.

Silsden were much improved after the break and got a foothold when substitute Jamie Longley was fouled in the area, Danny Forrest scoring from the resulting penalty but with just a little over ten minutes remaining it was too little, too late.
