North West Counties League Premier Division: Congleton Town 1 Silsden 0

THE Cobbydalers’ problems are still mounting after a slender defeat at Congleton leaves them battling for their existence in the top flight.

Silsden were always going to be in the relegation zone in the top tier despite Saturday’s result, but they would have hoped to pick up points after the home side went down to ten men just after the hour.

With the match still goalless, the Bears’ George Whiteoak picked up a straight red card following an altercation with Danny Forrest.

The former Bantam had come off the bench in the first minute after Kev Ryan suffered a head injury.

It was certainly an eventful afternoon, and the contest was settled when Scott Sephton headed a Lee Jackson free-kick past Cobbydalers’ keeper Ed Hall just four minutes after the dismissal.
