SILSDEN will be hoping for a break in the weather as they look to host Abbey Hey in the North West Counties League Premier Division on Saturday.

All of the sides in the league have suffered from the dreadful conditions but the Cobbydalers have been affected more than most, with six of their last eight games in all competitions being postponed – three at the Angel Telecom Stadium and three away from home.

Silsden are outside the relegation zone in the top tier on goal difference only but they have played fewer games than two of the three clubs below the trapdoor.

The Cobbydalers also have the upper hand as they have already beaten Abbey Hey this term.

The sides met at the Manchester outfit’s Abbey Stadium in the second round of the Men United Cup, and the Cobbydalers won the tie 1-0 thanks to a Chris Wademan penalty after Craig Nicholls had been brought down early on.

Any hopes of a comeback from the home side faded when they had a man sent off.
