North West Counties League Premier Division: Abbey Hey 0 Silsden 1

AN EARLY penalty and a second-half dismissal for hosts Abbey Hey was enough for the Cobbydalers to bank a confidence-boosting and much- needed away win.

There were just nine minutes on the clock when Silsden’s Craig Nicholls, just back from injury, went on a dangerous run.

He was brought down in the area and Chris Wademan coolly side-footed the spot-kick home.

Talent Ndlovu was also back in the Silsden starting line-up, and his display in midfield earned him the man of the match accolade.

N’Dlovu and Wayne Morrison both went close to adding to the Cobbydalers’ lead before the break.

The Manchester club’s task to overturn that slender advantage got much more difficult ten minutes into the second half as the home side’s midfielder Tom Murray was sent off after aiming a punch at Andy Lee.

The referee didn’t see the incident but one of his assistants brought his attention to it, and Silsden saw the game out with relative ease.
