NORTH WEST COUNTIES

Silsden 1

Nelson 0

THE Cobbydalers found their derby form just when they needed it as they beat Nelson at home.

Silsden had suffered four straight defeats in the North West Counties Premier Division, and their hero was veteran utility player Kev Ryan, who headed in Andy Lee’s last-minute corner.

It was the Cobbydalers’ first maximum since they beat their another derby rival Barnoldswick Town at the Angel Telecom Stadium towards the end of last month.

Silsden spokesman Kevin Knappy said: “It was a good win but a nervy one. We had a debutant keeper in Joe Taylor, who had just joined us from Fleetwood Town and he played well.

“But we needed that last-minute goal from Kev. It should be a big lift for us at a time when we needed some kind of boost.”

Following the results the day after, Nelson dropped two places to ninth while Silsden remain just above the drop zone.

However, they are four points clear and they do have games in hand on some of the clubs above them.
