Tadcaster Albion 2 Bradford Park Avenue 3

BRADFORD Park Avenue withstood a late comeback attempt by Tadcaster Albion to book their place in the West Riding County Cup final.

Avenue dominated until they allowed their hosts to give them palpitations in the dying minutes.

Avenue took a fifth-minute lead when Craig King opened his account for his new club. He netted a rebound after the Tadcaster keeper parried a Richard Marshall effort.

With just over three minutes to go before the break, Sam Patterson doubled Avenue’s lead when he ended a good move with a chip over the home keeper. That was also his first goal for the club.

It seemed that the semi-final was sealed a minute later as King controlled an attempted clearance and found Chib Chilaka who rifled in Avenue’s third on the volley.

Avenue had the chance to make doubly sure early in the second half when King was fouled in the area but Chilaka’s penalty was saved.

Taddy’s unlikely fight back was triggered by former Bradford City striker Lewis Clarkson who scored twice in the final minutes.

Tonight’s action sees Farsley bidding to reach the semi-finals in the Evo-Stik League Cup, sponsored by Doodson Sports. They face a home tie in the last eight against First Division North rivals Lancaster City.
