SILSDEN will play Garforth Town at home in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase after making short work of Brandon United in Saturday's first hurdle.

The Cobbydalers beat the Northern League strugglers 4-0, with the visitors low on confidence and self-belief after a poor start which has left them bottom of Division Two.

They fell behind to an own goal after Mark Ferguson turned a low Dale Feather centre past his own keeper in the tenth minute.

A later Feather shot was then parried by the visiting keeper and Zack Dale headed Silsden's second.

A Joe Jalil header crashed off the bar in the second half but, with just over 20 minutes remaining, Craig Nicholls netted after taking Feather's through-ball.

Nicky McNally then wrapped up the scoring when he scored at the second attempt just into stoppage time.

Thackley will not feature in the next round after a 2-1 defeat at Consett, the Northern League top-tier outfit who dumped Silsden out of the FA Cup.

The Dennyboys took the lead through Chris Davey in the 14th minute but a Liam Hudson own goal meant the home side were on terms before the break.

Consett continued to knock on the door and they got a deserved winner when Adam Nicholls netted 12 minutes from time.

Eccleshill United also returned from the north-east empty-handed. The Eagles lost 1-0 at West Allotment Celtic, with David Henderson netting the hosts' 35th-minute winner.
