THACKLEY played their first friendly of the pre-season on Saturday and suffered a 2-0 defeat.
The Dennyboys were away at Durham City and first-half goals from Callum Hope and Steven Stewart were enough for the home side.
Andy Patterson’s men played well and created half chances in the final third of the pitch but could not find a way through the Durham defence.
Silsden also lost, with a young side going down 1-0 at home to Daisy Hill, a side in the lower tier of the North West Counties League.
Cobbydalers boss Andy Geary was happy with the effort of his young side. He said: “We had nine changes from the 16 that were in the squad for Thursday’s first game just to give us a chance to look at everyone.
“I know they (Daisy Hill) are from a league below and that it’s nice to win friendlies but the scoreline means nothing. It’s all about game time at this stage.”
Brighouse Town lost 4-1 at home to a young Huddersfield Town XI on Friday night.
Tom Matthews netted a penalty for the home side but goals from Ronan Coughlan either side of that strike and a Ben Atkinson effort saw the young Terriers 3-1 up at half time. Jack Boyle added the visitors’ fourth.
