Winsford United 2 Silsden 3

Silsden banked a much-needed three points from their trip to Winsford United in the North West Counties League Premier Division tonight, despite missing a late penalty.

The Cobbydalers raced into a second-minute lead when Ben Crabtree headed in an inswinging Andy Hill free-kick.

There were more chances, for Nicky McNally especially, but it took them half an hour to double their lead when Ben Lamb found the target.

Winsford pulled a goal back from the penalty spot just four minutes into the second half, when Harry Noon netted after a handball by Mikey Hall, and they levelled through Osebi Abadaki just after the hour.

The Cobbydalers’ late penalty drama unfolded after Will Storrie was brought down but, although substitute Josh McNulty (pictured) fired wide from 12 yards, he soon went from zero to hero when he stabbed home the winning goal five minutes later.

Silsden host fifth-placed Runcorn Town on Saturday.
