Liversedge
Sedge leave it late to settle issue
Liversedge 2, Brodsworth MW 0
The last home game of the season for Liversedge was not the foregone conclusion it should have been, although they appeared to be playing well within themselves.
Sedge had to bounce back after a heavy defeat at home to Northern Counties East Premier Division champions Winterton Rangers in midweek. They always looked capable of beating Brodsworth but the clash was never over until stoppage time.
The hosts had taken the lead in the tenth minute when a deep cross found Nicky Boshell and he chipped the ball back into the danger zone. It struck Daryll Leach but fell to Luke Sherman and he drilled in from the edge of the six-yard box.
Sedge keeper Lee Ashforth was hard-worked in the second half but made a string of fine saves, before Brodsworth were stunned by a free-kick just into injury time.
The visiting keeper should have claimed it but his own defender got in his way, the ball took a rebound and dropped for Joe Hewitt, who slotted into the open target.
