Only a miracle can rescue Celts

| Simeon Bambrook's goal gave Farsley hope before York hit back strongly |
York 4, Farsley 1
Farsley's battle to extend their stay at the top table of English non-league soccer ended tonight when defeat just over the North Yorkshire border consigned them to relegation.
From the euphoria of beating promotion-chasing Torquay away, the Celts' season has soured and this was their fifth defeat on the bounce.
It all but confirmed they will be playing in Blue Square North next season as only victory by 20-odd goals and other results going their way at the weekend can now save them.
Martyn Woolford and Leo Fortune West scored in the first half to put York on course for a win but there was fight in the Celts.
David McNiven had the ball in the net, only to see an offside flag, but Simeon Bambrook then headed home from a Rory Prendergast corner.
But York substitute Richard Brodie killed off the Celts' challenge with two goals in the last four minutes.
The only club outside the relegation places Farsley can now catch is Halifax, who live to fight another day after a 4-0 win at Crawley.
Lewis Killeen opened the scoring midway through the first half and Jon Shaw scored either side of the break, with Crawley reduced to ten men in between those strikes.
Two minutes into stoppage time Kieran Murphy topped a superb result for the Shaymen.
In the Northern Counties East Premier Division, ECCLESHILL enjoyed a good home win as they beat Maltby Main 2-1 against the odds.
They had to come from behind - Maltby netted a 50th-minute penalty - and with ten men after Chris Cookson was sent off six minutes later.
An Andy Philp strike pulled United level and substitute Marcus Edwards notched the winner in injury time.
Elsewhere, LIVERSEDGE were thrashed 5-2 at home by champions Winterton Rangers.
SILSDEN play their penultimate game of their Vodkat League Division One season tomorrow when Glossop North End visit Cougar Park.
Manager Paul Schofield will find it difficult to leave keeper Matthew Everard and young centre back Sean Airey out after their performances in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Runcorn Linnets.
