Thackley face a tough game against their former manager Billy Fox’s Staveley MW at Dennyfield on Saturday as the two clubs try to keep their promotion hopes alive in the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Just one club goes up into the Evo-Stik League set-up, and Thackley are just five points off the summit nearly halfway through the campaign.
Fox’s men are three points behind the Dennyboys but have two games in hand.
Vince Brockie’s men are unbeaten in their last six league games but have drawn three of those, so will have to uncover a more ruthless edge if they are to stay in the title race.
Staveley could be sidetracked as they are the only NCE club left in the FA Vase after a tremendous run.
Brighouse Town are also in the top half of the table but have slipped to ninth as their rivals make the most of their games in hand.
Town travel to struggling Lincoln Moorlands this weekend but will be wary as their hosts recently held Thackley to a 1-1 draw there.
Liversedge face a tough fixture as the visitors to Clayborn are Retford United, who are second on goal difference only, although they have played one more game than leaders Scarborough Athletic.
Sedge go into the game in 11th place after a draw at Scarborough last weekend.
Albion Sports could claim the outright leadership in Division One if they beat struggling Dinnington Town at Horsfall Stadium.
Kulwinder Sandhu’s men are just goal difference off top spot as they are one of two clubs on 42 points after 20 games.
Pontefract Collieries missed the chance to leapfrog Albion and Worksop Parramore in midweek but they also have 42 points, although they have now played 21 games.
Rivals Eccleshill United lost at Worksop last weekend but it has still been a good week for them as they banked six points.
They won at Dinnington on Tuesday and had the three points from the abandoned game against Emley added to their total.
The Eagles are seventh with 36 points but have two games in hand on the top two.
They journey to Grimsby Borough on Saturday. Their hosts are just one point and one place better off than Dinnington.
