New Liversedge boss Sean Regan is settling in, has identified his number two and is looking forward to the forthcoming pre-season schedule.

He admits it has been a rush over the last couple of weeks but says it has been a very exciting time.

Regan said: “I’ve already had a very positive meeting with the players and we have asked them all back. We have reassured them that we are not rebuilding, just adding and tweaking.

“I have managed to get Billy Miller to come in as assistant manager and he has already started to set up the pre-season programme.

“Billy has worked on the coaching staff at Darlington. He was also a part of the Army fitness and training corps, he ran one of the military football teams and has worked at a number of other clubs.

“Non-league football is a new environment for him and we are fortunate to get him.”

Because an appointment was top priority during the close season, following the move of last term’s manager Steve Newton into a more administrative role, the pre-season friendlies were left on the backburner.

Regan is delighted that Ossett Town, Bradford Park Avenue and Scunthorpe United have all stepped in at short notice, while other games are expected to be confirmed in the next fortnight.

“It is just a matter of getting on with it now,” said Regan.

“During the friendlies, and even when the league games get started, we will be doing video analysis. We will do that in-house – tape the games and go through the footage before playing back sections to the lads and going through decision-making and work-rate.

“Me and Billy will also be doing our own analysis because we are two guys who are highly qualified in those areas.

“We will probably be the most qualified management pairing in our division and we hope that will more than make up for the fact that we are not as experienced as any of the others.”
