Sean Regan has been overwhelmed by the number of players that have been in touch with him since his appointment as Liversedge manager was confirmed.

Regan, who was first-team coach at local rivals Thackley last season, has an excellent background and a host of qualifications in coaching and educating. He is keenly awaiting the coming season.

“I’m definitely looking forward to the challenge, I have been wanting to step up to managing a team and I’m delighted to get the opportunity at Clayborn,” said Regan, who spent a season at Liversedge in his playing days.

“There has been a fantastic response from current players since it was confirmed that I would be the manager here. My phone has been red hot with people ringing me to ask if they could come and join us.

“I met all the Sedge squad from last season a week last Thursday and it was a very positive evening. They are all reporting back for training this Thursday, and Tuesday of next week we are inviting new players to come along.

“That gives us a week to settle the squad back in and then introduce a few fresh faces to training. We are not rebuilding, we are just adding. If we can strengthen the squad and do a bit of tweaking here and there we will be happy.

“It is a new venture for me and I’m looking forward to it and I’m glad the club offered me the chance. Everyone at the club has a desire to move Liversedge on, and the work starts now.”
