Former Liversedge boss Eugene Lacy could have damaged his chances of taking over for a second spell at Clayborn after comments posted on a website.
The Sedge committee met this week to discuss the five applications received for the role of manager following Steve Newton’s resignation.
Sedge secretary Brian Oakes said: “As yet there is no news regarding who will take over.”
The Spen club are hopeful that no damage has been done to their search after words were exchanged between themselves and Lacy.
The outspoken former boss came forward to express his determination to find himself a new club after two years out of the game.
He was quoted on the Northern Counties East League website and made a reference to what he perceived as a lack of ambition by the club as the reason he quit Clayborn.
The club responded by saying they were nearing their centenary and without the drive and dedication of the staff and committee there would be no milestone to celebrate.
“People have until May 15 (this coming Friday) to get their CVs to us,” added Oakes.
“Eugene has made himself available for a manager’s role again but in doing that he gave Liversedge some bad press.
“That was unnecessary and we had to reply to what he said but the timing of it couldn’t have been worse for us.
“We hope it doesn’t put prospective applicants off. We have always and will continue to work hard and make progress.”
