Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division: Liversedge 3 Pickering Town 5

LIVERSEDGE couldn’t quite repeat their heroics of the weekend as they lost an eight-goal thriller at home against fourth-placed Pickering Town, just days after romping to a 5-1 victory at leaders AFC Mansfield in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

Last night’s visitors took a two-goal lead, breaking the deadlock after the half-hour, with Billy Logan and Ryan Blott on target within minutes of each other.

However, Sedge hit back as Joe Walton twice headed home.

Blott put Pickering back in front two minutes before the interval, only to see Rhys Davies equalise for the home side on the stroke of half-time.

The Pikes knew that they could go second with a win and came out for the second half in determined mood.

They grabbed another quickfire two goals as Joe Danby and George Bissett scored inside a four-minute spell to finally wrestle the game away from a spirited Liversedge.

The Pikes had all the spoils from a mesmerising game but they failed to move towards the summit as the second and third-placed clubs, Handsworth Parramore and Pontefract Collieries, both enjoyed home wins.
