Liversedge's match last night at mid-table rivals Staveley Miners' Welfare in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division was postponed.

It was no surprise that the fixture was called off due to severe weather but it was yet another frustration for Jonathan Rimmington and his troops.

A home victory over basement outfit Clipstone on Saturday December 2 took Sedge to 28 points but they have hardly progressed since.

They were due to travel to Staveley just four days later but that was also called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Last night’s rescheduled fixture was their fifth postponement in six games.

Their only run out in between was at Pickering Town on Saturday, December 23 when they were forced to settle for a point from a 2-2 draw at promotion-chasing Pickering Town after the Pikes hit a stoppage-time equaliser.

That took Rimmington’s men to 29 points from 20 games, so they are yet to reach the 21 games which will mark the halfway point of their league season.

They will look to break through the 30-point watershed at Worksop Town on Saturday.

The tenth-placed Tigers are just two places above Sedge.
