A FAMILIAR name will remain in the area now that Dean Windass' son Jordan has signed for Liversedge as manager Jonathan Rimmington strengthens his squad.

The younger Windass was at Northern Counties East League neighbours Thackley but has crossed from north to south Bradford to link up with Rimmington at Clayborn.

The Sedge boss said: "I know Dean really well and he comes to watch us when he can, so he knows all about our team.

"He'd spoken to me a few times and suggested that we get Jordan down here. Dean thinks our style of play will suit Jordan and he likes the way we play."

The younger Windass is still waiting to make his Sedge debut but it was a much quicker transfer than the one Rimmington was working on previously.

He is still looking at targets as he looks for more depth in his squad for the second half of the season and said: "We were trying to get clearance for a lad who had been playing in America.

"That was a couple of weeks ago. We had him pencilled in for a game at the end of November but the game went and we still didn't have clearance for him.

"These things can take time and we're a long way down the FA's list of priorities.

"A player we did get in is James King and he's been doing well for us. He was with Bradford City. He was a first-year pro last season and he's got a football brain. You can see that he's had a very good background and upbringing in the game.

"He was offered a deal with Yeovil but he didn't want to leave the area and his family, so he turned it down. He's a really nice lad as well as being a good footballer.

"We've brought a few players in and we've got a good team. It's a young team – I think the average age is just under 21 – and we've still got six of the lads who got us out of relegation trouble when all looked lost the season before last.

"I don't think we'll get dragged into a relegation battle this season. I'm still worried though and I will be until we get to 40 points. That's when you can stop looking over your shoulder."
