Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division: Barton Town 0 Liversedge 6

JOE Walton fired in four goals as Liversedge hit hosts Barton Town for six of the best without reply to rocket up from 13th to seventh in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

The result against a struggling Barton saw Sedge extend their unbeaten start in the new campaign to eight games, and the demolition started early.

Sedge skipper Tom Jackson went up for a 15th-minute corner and the centre back headed in the opener.

Walton took over from there, and had claimed his hat-trick before the interval.

He began with a good finish midway through the first period, and stabbed in from close range on the half-hour mark before beating the home keeper in a one-on-one on the stroke of half-time.

Old Boys keeper Pat Weaver was unfortunate midway through the second half when he made a good save but could only parry the ball, with Devonte Morton slotting in the loose ball.

Walton wrapped up the scoring with a chip over Weaver after a powerful run when a through ball gave him space.

Silsden were also in action last night and extended their 100 per cent start in climbing to the summit of Hallmark Security League Division One.

The Cobbydalers had matched previous leaders Whitchurch Alport in their first four victories but match five separated the clubs.

Silsden won 2-0 against Chadderton to depose Whitchurch, who were held to a goalless draw at home by Abbey Hulton United the previous afternoon.

Danny Forrest’s side had to be patient as a post denied Nicky McNally and a Niall Sultan strike forced the home side’s keeper into a top-drawer save in the goalless first half.

Sultan was not to be denied, however, and showed composure as he finally broke the deadlock in the 68th minute.

Chris Wademan had provided the assist for the first goal but claimed the second for himself with a fierce shot from an acute angle ten minutes from time.

Albion Sports heading to Athersley Recreation tonight in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division after the Barnsley-based club relieved their management duo of their roles on Monday.

The Rec will be under caretaker management as they welcome the Lions.

Mid-table Albion are only three points better off than their hosts but have played fewer games and will be high on confidence after a 2-0 win at Worksop Town at the weekend.

There is a big derby in Division One as Eccleshill United host Campion.

The visitors will be favourites, however, as they sit third in the early table, while the inconsistent Eagles are hardly flying as they are a lowly 17th after taking just four points from five games.
