LIVERSEDGE have lost two of last season’s stalwarts to new Northern Counties East League Premier Division rivals Pontefract Collieries.

Vaughan Redford and Cody Cromack have both left to sign for Ponte following the club’s promotion as runners-up of Division One last term.

Young forward Redford hails from Pontefract, so is joining his home-town club, while Cromack is a close friend so it was no great surprise when he followed.

Sedge manager Jonathan Rimmington is disappointed to have lost both but pleased that the players have made their decision early enough for Sedge to seek replacements.

On a more positive note, Stephen Wales, Max Elliott and club captain Tom Jackson have all committed to another year at Clayborn.

Rimmington has also been busy drafting in new players, and centre forward Shane Snowden and Josh Greenhalgh have both been signed.

The players have stepped up a level but Rimmington has a good record of spotting talent.

The club are also due to appoint a new coach to replace Ben Sadler, who left to take up a full-time role at Harrogate Town.

Sadler’s home-town club are in Vanarama National League North and have turned full-time as they launch another push for promotion to England’s fifth division.

Sadler leaves Sedge with best wishes from everyone at Clayborn and nothing but respect for the job he has done, with the door always open for his return.
