FARSLEY Celtic missed a glorious opportunity to pull clear at the Evo-Stik Division One North summit in midweek – but they remain top of the pile on as they host mid-table Bamber Bridge.

The race for the title – and the one automatic promotion place – appears to be a battle between the Celts and joint leaders Lancaster City as they have a nine-point gap over their nearest challengers.

It was a shock result as Farsley went down 2-1 at home to relegation-threatened AFC Goole on Tuesday. That was one of two games in hand they had over Lancaster but the Celts have the chance to bounce back with another home fixture.

Farsley’s near neighbours Brighouse Town are still in the hunt for promotion as they look to force their way into the play-off places. Paul Quinn’s men are just four points outside the top five as they host Kendal Town.

Thackley face a tough away day in the Premier Division of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League as they travel to seventh-placed AFC Mansfield.

The Dennyboys climbed back into the top four on Tuesday after a 3-3 home draw against Bridlington Town, but other results saw them edged back to fifth the following night.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s Albion Sports have no fixture this weekend, but Liversedge are in action with home advantage over Hemsworth MW.

Both of the local sides in the lower tier look like missing out on the play-off places, although Campion still have an outside chance. The black and reds are ten points off the promotion pack as they host lowly Teversal.

Eccleshill are inside the top ten after last weekend's win at Knaresborough Town but remain six points behind new boys Campion. The Eagles host Worsbrough Bridge Athletic who are just one place above the drop zone.

After being knocked out of the Hallmark Security League Cup at the quarter-final stage last weekend, Silsden return to Division One action with a home game against leaders Litherland REMYCA.
