THERE were two big derby fixtures in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League as newcomers Campion hosted Eccleshill United for the first time in Division One, while Thackley were at home to long- term rivals Liversedge in the Premier Division.

Both fixtures were under threat following heavy overnight rain but both survived late-morning pitch inspections.

Campion are above their more established neighbours in the table but suffered a 3-1 home defeat.

Following a goalless first half, the Eagles broke the deadlock soon after the break through Chris Lever.

Scott Manning doubled the lead before Luke Harrop hit the visitors’ third, while Campion’s leading scorer Eli Hey netted a late consolation.

In the top tier, the Dennyboys had to come from a goal down to get the bragging rights over Sedge.

The visitors took an early lead when Pitue Crouz opened the scoring in the 18th minute.

Thackley hit back through Dan Broadbent just before the hour, and George Eustance netted the winner midway through the second half.

Albion Sports also tasted victory in the Premier Division as they won 3-2 at Wayne Benn’s Hemsworth Miners' Welfare.

Albion led at the break after Omar Habeeb struck in the 34th minute but it was a rapid-fire brace from Danny Facey early in the second half that won it for Kulwinder Sandhu’s men.

Former Bradford City midfielder and Park Avenue stalwart Benn had seen his side briefly level when Temour Khan turned a Cameron Clarke cross past his own keeper Kyle Trennery before Facey’s double, and Clarke’s stoppage-time thunderbolt was just a consolation.

Silsden earned three points in the lower tier of the Hallmark Security League on Friday night with a 1-0 win over Chadderton.

Josh Eastwood’s 37th-minute strike saw the Cobbydalers to a double over their Oldham-based visitors.
