LIVERSEDGE surged to the top of the Premier Division with a 4-0 victory at mid-table Maltby Main in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League.

Joe Walton opened the scoring in the fourth minute but the home side's troubles did not really begin until the half-hour mark when they had a man sent off.

Against the ten men of Maltby, the visitors rattled in three goals during a 20-minute spell as they ran away with the game in the second half.

Rhys Davies netted just after the hour mark, with Stephen Wales and Vaughan Redford adding against a side who were looking for the home win that would have lifted them level on points with Sedge.

It was a different story for ALBION SPORTS as they lost their 100 per cent start after suffering a 5-1 defeat at AFC Mansfield, who moved level on points with their opponents having played a game more.

Danny Facey equalised after the home side had taken the lead but a depleted Lions team had no answers even when Mansfield went down to ten men.
