LIVERSEDGE have grounds to be happy after the way the football community and businesses rallied round to help them when they were unable to use their Clayborn pitch for almost five months.

A grant from Hyundai UK and free equipment from Spear & Jackson were generous gestures as were the many offers of help from other spots organisations.

First team coach Darren Attwood said: "The businesses have been great and the work that is ongoing simply wouldn't have been done without them, but there are so many little stories to tell and we have so many more friends now.

"The press have been great and obviously their coverage has helped but the number of people who have put their heads above the parapet has been stunning. Someone contacted the club and asked if he could help but said his only skill was as a graphic designer.

"We asked him to come and meet us and he's been helping our media develop ever since. His company, Batz, has done all of the graphics for our Twitter and Facebook and they look really polished now, he might even start to get involved with the club's committee.

"The bosses from the tool company that donated the equipment went to their own awards evening for the best tool makers and they were all pictured with a Sedge scarf and their trophy.

"We had the offer of a ground loan free of charge should we need it from one of our neighbours in the Evo-Stik League and we have been offered friendly games in the close season.

"These have been the most pleasing things for me, the support from the football family and the friendships that have started from nothing, it's really heart warming."
