DESPITE the severity of the weather in and around the area on Friday, many of the semi-pro sides on the non-league ladder managed to get their games played at the weekend.
But three of them were denied home fixtures, with the highest profile of them being Guiseley’s as they were due to host Wrexham in the Vanarama National League.
That fixture was called off on Friday night with Nethermoor under a thick blanket of snow.
Liversedge had not staged a home game in 126 days but were due to host Worksop Town in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Their problems were highlighted on Friday as a visit designed to show the support of their MP Jo Cox, the labour member for Batley and Spenborough, had to be shelved because of the snow.
Silsden were also frustrated by a postponement as the pitch at the relegation-threatened Cobbydalers’ Angel Telecom Stadium was waterlogged, preventing Squires Gate from making the trip from the west coast for a North West Counties League Premier Division clash.
