LIVERSEDGE boss Jonathan Rimmington is determined to extend the club’s tenure in the top division of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League.

With the Clayborners rock bottom and woefully short of match fitness after host of postponements peppered with the odd away game. Rimmington remains confident.

He said: “There is a lot of football to be played and I’ve learned a lot about the players I had here and the new signings that have come in. It's ever evolving and we’ll be alright.

“We might have games in hand while the other teams have got points on the board, but we will get enough points to be safe. I love this club and my ethos is to work hard and win matches.

“To win games you have to have games and we haven’t played at home for 14 weeks now and I think once we get the fixtures coming thick and fast we will climb the table.”

Rimmington is under no illusions about where the club stands at the moment, but he has a long term plan and is working towards his goals.

The Sedge boss added: “I’ve spoken to managers and officials of other clubs and they agree that battling in this league is difficult because it’s not a level playing field.

"You have clubs coming down from the Evo-Stik League with big budgets and clubs already here trying to get promoted and paying top dollar because they have corporate finance behind them.

“We don’t have that but we can pull together and build a squad that can compete. Our committee is brilliant and I love them to bits. They have kept the club going all these years but we need more people and new income streams.

“The answer isn’t throwing money at it, that’s not the way. However, you do need a budget and to be a community club. We have the right catchment area to attract supporters and improve the youth set up.

“We’re the only club at this level in Cleckheaton and surrounding districts. You have to go as far as the Ossett clubs or to the north side of Bradford to find our nearest rivals, so we need to make the most of that and get the locals involved.”
