THE Premier Division derby at Throstle Nest went to form as ALBION SPORTS ran out 5-1 winners over LIVERSEDGE'S ten men in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League.

Relegation-threatened Sedge lost Josh Greenhough minutes before the break when a foul on Matty Dalton earned him a second yellow card.

Albion moved up to eighth with the victory and are now just two points off third place.

Sedge could have taken a 25th-minute lead but Sports keeper Jack Bentley made a sharp save, while a Dalton shot was saved on the line a minute later.

Albion broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark when Jordan Hendrie netted after taking Marcus Edwards' through-ball.

The ten men of the visitors drew level at the start of the second half. Sedge kicked off and two passes later, Anthony Hilton fired in from distance, the ball flying just inside the post.

Yet it took Albion just over a minute to regain the lead and it was Edwards netting at the second attempt after the Sedge keeper parried his first effort.

Omar Habib then tapped in following a goalmouth scramble to make it 3-1 in the 51st minute.

Edwards added his second inside the last 18 minutes after being found by Joe Bardon before Habib wrapped up the scoring, with the final assist going to Alex Cusack.

Albion spokesman Pete Cusack said: "Storm Desmond made the playing conditions a bit of a lottery.

"We had a number of players back after last week's skeleton squad that went to Bridlington Town, with Alex, Lewis Morgan and our first scorer, young Jordan, all coming in."

In Division One, ECCLESHILL UNITED gave new manager Sean Regan his first win as they beat basement outfit Lincoln Moorlands Railway.

It was not plain sailing for the Eagles, however, and they had to keep their concentration before deserving the 4-2 away victory.

The home side are also under new management and had drafted in two new signings during the week – but were dealt a blow when they had a man sent off inside the first half hour.

The dismissal led to a penalty and although Andy Cooper's spot-kick was parried, he fired in the rebound to edge Eccleshill in front.

Chris Hamilton levelled three minutes before the break but Luke Harrop struck to ensure the visitors were leading at the interval.

The home side's ten men equalised again when they were awarded a penalty and Hamilton drilled it in.

That was on the hour mark and Eccleshill had to be patient before two goals in the last four minutes, from Brandan Hammond before Harrop bagged his brace, eventually had the Eagles soaring.
