LIVERSEDGE will be hoping their West Riding County Cup first round home tie gets underway at the second time of asking tonight.

The all Northern Counties East Premier Division tie against Pontefract Collieries was scheduled for the end of last month, however, the clubs got together to switch it to Saturday October 3.

Neither club had a league game that day and they felt it would be better for the supporters.

The West Riding FA agreed but an oversight by them saw no officials appointed and the tie had to be postponed with both teams and spectators all assembled at Clayborn.

West Riding FA subsequently issued an apology and admitted the error had damaged their flagship competition. So no doubt they will have ensure that it's all systems go for tonight’s rearrangement.

Sedge will be hoping not to exit two knockout competitions in just over a week following their defeat on penalties to Division One AFC Emley in the second round of the League Cup last Wednesday.

There is also Division One action tonight as Eccleshill United look to stay ahead of visitors Teversal in a mid-table clash.

The Eagles are two places higher but just one point better off and have played one game more than Terversal.

Elsewhere Padiham host Silsden in what will be the third meeting of the clubs this season. The Cobbydalers won the reverse North West Counties Premier Division league fixture 3-2 back in September.

But just four days later their Lancashire rivals got their revenge, again at the Angel Telecom Stadium, as they won 2-0 to knock Silsden out of the FA Cup at the preliminary round stage.

Last night’s action saw Thackley mount a second half comeback to earn a massive three points with a 4-1 win at fellow NCE Premier Division strugglers Nostell MW.

Luke Gordon put the home side in front in the 16th minute but that was the only goal of the first half. The Dennyboys hit back through Thomas Dugdale eight minutes after the break and never looked back.

Further goals from Andy Wood, Mike Garrod and a last minute strike from Ben Beckles saw them to a comfortable victory.

Monday night saw Brighouse consolidated fifth spot in Evo-Stik Division One North with a hard-earned but narrow victory over local rivals Farsley Celtic at the Dual Seal Stadium.

For once it was a derby fixture in which the result followed form and league placings, as struggling Farsley lost out to their high-flying near-neighbours.

The home side hit the visitors with a rapid-fire brace just after the half-hour.

They broke the deadlock when James Pollard’s free-kick from the flank drifted past everyone in the area, including Farsley keeper Tom Taylor.

With the Celts' defence all at sea, Town’s Ryan Hall beat his marker and rounded Taylor to slot in the home side’s second less than three minutes later.

Neil Parsley’s men hit back midway through the second half when Aiden Savory gave them a lifeline but it was mere consolation.
