ALL but two of the Bradford area semi-professional clubs were denied any action on another Saturday that saw fixture lists decimated by the weather.

From FC Halifax Town in the Vanarama Conference Premier down to Liversedge in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division, clubs were left kicking their heels - including Eccleshill United, who play their football a division lower than Sedge, as they had no scheduled fixture.

Bradford Park Avenue suffered their fifth call-off on the spin and have now not played since January 11, dropping deep into the Vanarama Conference North relegation zone.

John Deacey's men have had six league games, two of them twice, postponed since Gloucester City's scheduled visit on December 20. Horsfall Stadium was not to blame on Saturday though as Avenue were due to cross the Pennines to face Stalybridge Celtic.

The pitch at Bower Fold was waterlogged and the same problem was encountered at The Shay and Nethermoor, preventing Halifax hosting Barnet and Guiseley facing basement outfit Hyde.

Avenue and Guiseley were two of just three games called off in Conference North, highlighting how bad this area has been hit. The other was Gainsborough Trinity at home to Harrogate Town but that was off due to snow.

Liversedge should have hosted Retford United while neighbours Thackley were due to travel to leaders Tadcaster Albion. Albion Sport's home game against Parkgate was the only fixture in the NCE Premier Division to survive.

Both of the area's representatives in Evo-Stik League Division One North - promotion-chasing Farsley and mid-table Brighouse Town - were also thwarted.

Neil Parsley's Farsley should have made the journey to Mossley but the Lancashire club's pitch was covered in deep snow.

And Paul Quinn's side were denied the chance to take on Droylsden because the Bloods' pitch at the Butchers Arms was waterlogged.
