LIVERSEDGE manager Alan Colquhoon is mystified at the lack of points his side have gathered at Clayborn this term.

The difference between their form at home and away is alarming.

In seven games at Clayborn, Sedge have lost five, drawn two and won none. On their travels, however, they have won four, drawn one and lost just twice.

The goals scored and conceded columns echo the stark contrast, with a minus 14 goal difference at home, while they are breaking even in away games.

Colquhoon said: “The results at home have let us down. The other thing is that we are letting our supporters down. We know people will come through the gates when we’re winning but the numbers have dropped off and we want to put it right.

“I can’t put my finger on it, the more I think about it the less sense I make of it. I think we just need one win to get us going. The longer things go on the more of an issue it becomes.

“We played Glasshoughton Welfare last Tuesday and because they are low in the table and because we have not won at home the pressure becomes intense. Every home game is suddenly a massive game and we are also yet to keep a clean sheet at home.”

The boss would be more concerned if the performances were poor but he is quite content with his squad and feels it is only a matter of time before they are picking up points at Clayborn.

He added: “We’ve played some of the top sides at home and we’ve had some good wins away so it will balance out.

“We have beaten Barton Town and Handsworth Parramore – both of them will be up there or thereabouts when the season ends – and we’ve had wins at Armthorpe and Thackley in the derby game.

“If we were playing badly we wouldn’t have got all those points.”
