Liversedge had their first home game of 2014, but they failed to improve their lowly placing in the Northern Counties East Premier Division as they slipped to a 5-3 defeat.

The home side matched visitors Staveley MW in an end-to-end first half that finished with the sides level at 3-3. Two late goals saw the visitors over the line in an entertaining afternoon at Clayborn.

Staveley took the lead through Michael Trench in the fifth minute but Eli Hey soon had Sedge level. The home side’s Ryan Haigh and the visitors’ Matt Hassett also scored with Trench and Eli both adding a second to their personal tally in a mesmerising first half.

Jack Woolley put Staveley back in front 18 minutes from time and Sedge were consigned to defeat when Sam Finlaw made it a nap hand for the visitors.
