Liversedge can do Brighouse a big favour
6:20am Friday 1st February 2013 in Liversedge By Ian Whiting
The top of the Baris Northern Counties East Premier Division could become even tighter tomorrow if Brighouse’s game goes to form and neighbours Liversedge pull off a shock.
Town travel to rock-bottom Winterton Rangers while Sedge host leaders Scarborough Athletic, who are just three points ahead of Paul Quinn’s Town.
Brighouse need to win to stay ahead of third-placed Bridlington as the gap between them is only three points and the east coast outfit have a game in hand.
Sedge have under-achieved in manager Eric Gilchrist’s eyes – particularly at home – but they have proved this season that they are capable of beating any team in the division.
Thackley head to Worksop Parramore for a top-eight clash.
Worksop are doing well but they are very much the best of the rest as they trail Brid’ by seven points.
Albion Sports, who are challenging for the Division One title, are at mid-table Hallam.
They were held to a goalless draw at Hemsworth MW on Tuesday. That cost Kulwinder Sandhu’s men as two other clubs joined them on 51 points with victories the following night. However, Albion have played fewer games and have a better goal difference.
Eccleshill United will not be able to break out of their slumber following almost three weeks without a game due to the adverse conditions. They were scheduled to host AFC Emley but their opponents have an outstanding FA Vase tie.
Silsden host Glossop North End in the North West Counties Premier Division.
The visitors are bidding to get back into the top ten but are eight points off the top half. They have no injury concerns after being inactive since a 3-0 defeat at Runcorn Town on January 12.
