THE race for the Taylor's Timber West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division championship is wide open after last weekend's results.

Second-placed Littletown moved to within two points of Golcar United when their striker Joe Jagger netted all three goals in his team's home victory over strugglers DRAM Community.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield-based Newsome moved up into third, ahead of last season's champions Huddersfield YMCA, after beating Campion 6-1.

Paul Pike and Kitson Gayle both scored twice to add to one each from Neil Robshaw and Joel Brice, while Jahro Parchment netted Campion's consolation.

Mirfield-based Lower Hopton and Steeton are both well placed to take top spot should either of their rivals slip up.

A single-headed goal from Lower Hopton's Aiden Schofield gave his side a success at Salts.

Steeton had Andy Holden, Lee Reilly, Andy Briggs, Joe Mason and Jonson Butterfield on target as they accounted for second-from-bottom Overthorpe 5-1.

Only nine points separate the top seven teams in Division One, and with possibly four teams stepping up into the top flight next season, the rivalry is intense.

Thornton United and Holmfirth Town, who both fancy their chances, shared six goals, with Ryan Stubbs, Brendan Malby and Ross Carnall hitting the target for Thornton, with Ashley Thompson Adam Stephenson and Gavin Bell replying for Holmfirth.

Tyersal's miserable season continued with a 6-2 defeat at Golcar United Reserves.

Salts Reserves look like ending their Division Two season as runners-up to TVR United.

Two goals for Wayne Walsh and one each for Nathan Hartley and Ryan Boguslawski gave Salts a 4-1 victory over Tyersal Reserves to leave them two points adrift, with both sides having one game to play.

Ventus Yeadon Celtic and Steeton Reserves both reached the finals of their respective district cups.

Celtic, with two goals each from Kyle Shah and Terry Hargreaves and one by Ashley Preston, beat Burley Trojans 5-3 in a Wharfedale & District FA Challenge Cup semi-final.

Meanwhile, a single goal from Will Knight gave Steeton Reserves a 1-0 win against Oxenhope Recreation Reserves in a Keighley & District FA Supplementary Cup semi-final.

The semi-final of the Premier Division Cup that was due to be played on Wednesday at AFC Emley has been postponed until the West Riding County FA reach a decision on the abandoned quarter-final between Newsome and Lower Hopton.
