WET weather towards the end of last week caused all but two of the scheduled fixtures in the Taylor's Timber West Riding County Amateur League to be postponed due to waterlogged grounds.

Some teams attempted to switch their game to one of the few available 3G pitches, but found that they were all booked up.

The two games that were played were in the Division One Cup, where both Route One Rovers and Thornton United secured their places in the semi-finals.

Rovers faced Wibsey at home, while United were at Ventus Yeadon Celtic.

Esholt-based had already beaten their opponents twice in the league this season and made it a hat-trick in a game which, considering the conditions, was well controlled by Normanton-based referee Greg Rhodes.

Route One's scorers were Awais Khan (2), Shoaib Iqbal (2) and Zohaib Iqbal, with Daniel O’Donnell getting both Wibsey’s replies.

United took full charge at Dam Lane against Celtic, and had braces from John Selby and Danny Walker to add one by Brendan Maltby, while Terry Hargreaves netted a consolation.
