SALTS' hopes of toppling defending West Riding County Amateur League champions Huddersfield YMCA for a second time this season met a determined and emphatic response.

YMCA ran out comfortable 5-1 winners in the Premier Division rematch as Luke Peacock netted twice backed up by goals from Damian Gledhill, Adrian Igielski and Cephas Turbanwe.

Overnight leaders Littletown had their home game against Honley postponed due to a waterlogged ground at Heckmondwike and slipped to third place as a result.

They were overtaken by YMCA but it was Newsome who moved into pole position courtesy of an 8-0 trouncing of Halifax Irish as Paul Pike led the way with a hat-trick.

Basement side Overthorpe SC slipped to a second successive home defeat as Golcar United left with a 7-2 victory led by Alex Hallam's five-goal starring role.

Top-flight side Lower Hopton were in West Riding County FA Challenge Cup action and booked their place in the third round with a 2-0 win against Brighouse Town's Development team, with Nathan James and Adrian Schofield on target.

West Horton moved to the summit of Division One two weeks ago with a 10-2 home victory against struggling Hunsworth but it has been a struggle since.

They kept hold of top spot on goal difference only after losing 4-3 at Holmfirth Town and at the weekend made the short trip to meet local Bradford rivals Route One Rovers at Esholt looking to get back on track.

It looked positive when Lee Smith scored in the first half but it was downhill from there as Route One responded to run out 6-1 winners as Shamraz Hussain's double was supported by Danyal Yasin, Hassan Ali, Mohammed Alum and Sohail Faisal.

West Horton are now down to fourth place as Holmfirth Town took over at the top after seeing off Hunsworth 5-0, while unbeaten Wakefield City are up to second after edging out Golcar United Reserves 3-2.

Wibsey and visiting Ventus-Yeadon Celtic netted nine goals between them, with Wibsey emerging 5-4 winners.

Daniel O'Donnell was on song with a brace for the home team, who also had Callum Armitage, Tom Brennan and Dave Halley on the mark, while a Mat Hannan treble and Terry Hargreaves strike were not enough for Celtic.

Tyersal eased away from the lower end of the table with a 4-0 home win over Westbrook YMCA thanks to goals by Danny Farrar (2), Wayne Wright and match-day signing Safran Terry.

Salts Reserves remain unbeaten at the top of Division Two as goals by Ryan Whitfield (2), Jordan Nelson and Wayne Walsh accounted for hosts DRAM Community Reserves 4-1.

TVR United are also still undefeated in second place after outplaying rock-bottom Tyersal Reserves and romping to a 14-0 triumph.

Asif Iqbal (4) and Abbas Akram (3) were the main contributors, with Jinaid Taj (2), Asid Khan (2), Nasser Hussain, Faisal Rehman and Shabir Habeeb completing the impressive tally.

Thornton United Reserves edged out Lower Hopton Reserves in a 6-5 thriller, with Elliott Holmes' five goals proving decisive.
