Huddersfield YMCA moved two points ahead of rivals Lepton Highlanders and to within two points of lifting the Taylors Timber Premier Division champions trophy after beating Ovenden West Riding 2-0.

Daniel Naidole and Brighton Mugadza were on target while fourth-placed Halifax Irish, who have netted over 100 league goals, missed the opportunity to go level on points with Campion in third place.

They were held to a 2-2 draw in their penultimate game of the season at home to Lower Hopton.

Leon Hurles-Brook and Gareth Sherwood scored for Irish, while Nathan James and Nathan Alexander replied for the visitors.

Newsome, in their first season in the league, secured the championship of the Taylors Timber Division One with a 4-1 home win over Campion Reserves.

West Horton completed the double over bottom-placed Westbrook YMCA, with Hassan Khan (three) Shehraz Mahmood (two) and one from Faisal Ali scoring in a 6-1 victory.

Route One Rovers secured third place in Taylors Timber Division Two behind Champions Thornton United and runners up Golcar United, with a convincing 7-2 victory at Littletown Reserves.
