SALTS brought the curtain down on Hunsworth's dismal Taylor's Timber West Riding County Amateur League season with a 10-0 victory.

Gareth Gott, Danny Bailey and Tom Hickey contributed two goals each to add to those from Joe Pleasance, Sam Waterhouse, Jonny Cunningham and Derry Myers against a team that have struggled all season, gaining only one point from their 24 Premier Division matches.

Craig Nicholls and Gavin Armitage scored for Campion as they beat visitors Lower Hopton 2-1, with Danny Hildred netting for the Mirfield side.

With leaders Huddersfield YMCA involved in their district cup, second-placed Lepton Highlanders took full advantage to take their place at the summit with a 3-2 victory over third-placed Ovenden West Riding.

Scott Eastwood and Jay Carney, for Ovenden, and Gary Bradley and Jonathon Bullivant, for Lepton, scored in the first half and it took a Ricardo Ianzito goal in the second half to secure victory for the Huddersfield-based side. Littletown slipped to a 7-1 home defeat against Halifax Irish, with visiting striker Ely Hey netting four times.

A mid-morning downpour in the Huddersfield area led to the postponement of the two Division One Cup semi-finals. Both games – DRAM Community v Holmfirth Town and Newsome v Campion Reserves – have been rescheduled for Saturday, April 23.

Division One leaders Overthorpe SC strengthened their bid to return to the top flight next season with a 4-2 home victory over Ventus-Yeadon Celtic.

Leading 4-0 at the break, with a Nicky Croisdale treble and one goal from Reece Patterson, the home side eased off in the second half as Celtic, with Kyle Shah and Paul Andrews on target, threatened to spoil the home side's promotion ambitions.

Bottom-placed Westbrook YMCA, with their ground at Lawnswood YMCA still recovering after being ruined by quad bikes during the latest wet spell, conceded ground advantage to Wibsey – who, without a win in their first 12 league games, made it three victories from their last four.

Three goals from Damian Melvin, to add to others by Daniel O'Donnell, Chris Hanney, Michael Nicholson, Jason Clarke-Williamson and Vaughan Clarke-Williamson, gave them an 8-1 success.

Steeton Reserves had two goals from Andy Howland and one by Sam Fox in their 3-2 home win against West Horton, for whom Faisal Ali and Hassan Khan responded.

Thornton United took their tally of goals to over 100 and assured themselves of promotion in their first season from Division Two with a 4-1 victory at Salts Reserves.

TVR United's hopes of gaining promotion in their first campaign, however, were ended after they lost 11-4 at second-placed Golcar United Reserves.

* The second Premier Division Cup semi-final will be played between Golcar United and Huddersfield YMCA at Emley AFC tomorrow (7.30pm), with Steeton awaiting the winners.
