HEAVY snowfall on Friday had cleared by Saturday morning but left many grounds unplayable due to surface water.

Yet some West Riding County Amateur League clubs were lucky and managed to switch their games to a 3G pitch.

Huddersfield YMCA moved their West Riding County FA Challenge Cup quarter-final to the artificial surface at Leeds Road in Huddersfield.

While they created sufficient chances to have beaten West Yorkshire League opponents Beeston St Antony's easily, they had only a second-half strike from Kitson Gayle to show for their efforts before a late equaliser from Sean Jeavons sent the game into a penalty shoot-out.

The visitors eventually won that 5-4 to end any further interest in the competition for the County Amateur League.

Huddersfield-based Honley scraped into the last four of the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy with a 1-0 home victory over Huddersfield League side Newsome Reserves, with Ben Lindley netting the decisive goal.

Campion Reserves switched their home game in Taylor's Timber Division One against Holmfirth Town from their Scotchman Road ground to the Zara Sports Centre.

But the move did not work in their favour as the visitors went ahead after five minutes through Sean Hazelden – and while Chris Helliwell equalised for Campion, second-half strikes from Neil Robshaw (penalty) and substitute Mick Hall gave Holmfirth a 3-1 success.

Only two Taylor's Timber Premier Division games survived and one saw Kirkburton and Lower Hopton share four goals with a 2-2 draw.

Lincoln Adam and Aiden Schofield struck for Hopton in the first half before James Capewell and match-day signing Danny Ingham supplied second-half goals to earn Kirkburton a point.

Littletown came away from Golcar United with a 4-3 success thank to two goals from Keiran Senior and one apiece by Joe Jagger and Ryan White.

The semi-finals of the Taylor's Timber Premier Division Cup have now been arranged.

Steeton will meet Campion at Silsden's Angel Telecom Stadium on Wednesday, March 16, with the Huddersfield YMCA against Golcar United tie being played at AFC Emley on Wednesday, April 6. Both games will kick off at 7.30pm.
