CAMPION ensured their spot in the last four of the Taylor's Timber Premier Division Cup with a 3-2 quarter-final victory over Lower Hopton in the West Riding County Amateur League.

Craig Nicholls, Adam Jarrett and Andy Bailey were on target for Campion, while Lincoln Adams netted both Hopton's goals – including one from the penalty spot.

Ovenden West Riding, who have lifted the cup in the previous four seasons, were denied the possible chance to equal the record of five consecutive victories achieved by Salts (Saltaire) in the early 1950s after being beaten 4-2 in extra-time by visitors Golcar United.

Scott Eastwood and Steve Fullard scored for Ovenden in normal time, as did Dean Sadiq and Callum Meade for Golcar, before strikes from Sadiq and Max Leonard sent Golcar into the semis.

Salts climbed to fourth in the Premier Division after goals by Jonny Cunningham and Tom Hickey gave them a 2-0 home success over Halifax Irish.

Steeton had to be thankful for a point with a 1-1 draw at home to Littletown.

After falling behind to a fourth-minute goal by Joe Jagger, Steeton struggled to break down the visitors' defence before Michael Rhodes snatched an injury-time equaliser.

Hunsworth, bidding for their first three-pointer of the campaign, put up a plucky fight at home to fellow strugglers Tyersal but slipped to a 3-2 defeat.

Gareth Wright and Jordan Brunt were on target for the hosts but Tyersal's two match-day signings – Jamie Templeton (2) and Richard Blackley – provided the decisive strikes.

Championship favourites Huddersfield YMCA returned to the top of the table after beating Kirkburton 5-0.

Newsome, who lead the way in Division One, had to dig deep to grind out a victory at Campion Reserves, scoring four times in the second half to win 4-3.

Joshua Ludford (2) and Tom Bentham netted for Campion but Jamie Jobarteh (2), Nico McMahon and Alex Thomas struck for the visitors.

Terry Hargreaves' treble for Ventus-Yeadon Celtic proved in vain as visitors Steeton Reserves won 4-3 with goals from Aaron Abbas, Jack Morrall, Ross Chapman and Nicholas McNally.

Division Two leaders Thornton United had to come from two goals down at Route One Rovers to secure a 4-2 victory.

Abdul Hakimaz netted both for Route One, while Brendan Maltby (2), Andy Benjamin and John Selby were Thornton's hot-shots.

Salts Reserves hit Lower Hopton for five goals without reply, with Jordan Nelson grabbing two of them.
